{"id":3218,"date":"2010-10-23T23:05:48","date_gmt":"2010-10-24T07:05:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.scottyanderson.com\/?p=3218"},"modified":"2010-10-24T13:19:09","modified_gmt":"2010-10-24T21:19:09","slug":"poker-tournament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.scottyanderson.com\/?p=3218","title":{"rendered":"Poker Tournament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I played in my second ever Washington State Poker Tour tournament.\u00a0 I played a couple years ago and this time around I planned on doing better.\u00a0 The field was smaller than the last time I played, but I knew many of the people there are good.<\/p>\n<p>I won a couple smaller pots.\u00a0 I got a full-house with one person in it with me.\u00a0 I also lost a couple pots along the way.\u00a0 But after the first break the re-buys ended and people did add-ons.\u00a0 I hoped that I would start getting some cards to play with but I still wasn&#8217;t getting a lot of cards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sitting around the room were lots of guys.\u00a0 It is a guys only event.\u00a0 There were a couple ten-six-sevens.\u00a0 There was one at my table I was trying to figure out.\u00a0 He wore a light weight coat the whole time we were there.\u00a0 He had tats going down both arms.\u00a0 I am not a big fan of lots of tats, but there was something that kept my attention.<\/p>\n<p>I finally got dealt a K-Seven suited.\u00a0 Two of the three cards that hit were of the same suit.\u00a0 I also paired my King.\u00a0 I checked to the guy who has raised pre-flop.\u00a0 He bet and I went over the top all-in.\u00a0 But it was only about double his original bet.\u00a0 He called.\u00a0 He had pocket Q&#8217;s to go with a Queen on the board.\u00a0 He had a set to my pair.\u00a0 I needed a heart to hit the board to allow me a victory.\u00a0 It didn&#8217;t come and I was knocked out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I went to the cash that was starting up.\u00a0 We were playing dealers choice.\u00a0 The game was Crazy Pineapple.\u00a0 I got a pair of Kings and a three pre-flop.\u00a0 The three and one of the Kings were suited.\u00a0 The flop came and we threw away some cards.\u00a0 I threw away the three.\u00a0 I was sitting on two pair.\u00a0 The flop had a pair of eights.\u00a0 One guy bet and I called.\u00a0 Then the turn brought another eight.\u00a0 He bet and I called.\u00a0 The river came and he put me all in.\u00a0 I had a good full-house.\u00a0 But I couldn&#8217;t beat his quads.\u00a0 That knocked me out.<\/p>\n<p>I went to Redmond High School to watch Logan play is football game.\u00a0 It was a night game.\u00a0 They lost.\u00a0 I headed home and went to see a movie.\u00a0 I chose to see The Other Guys.\u00a0 It was pretty funny.\u00a0 The theatre on the West Valley Highway only charges three bucks.\u00a0 The ticket taker was ten-six-seven.\u00a0 As I walked up he caught my eye.\u00a0 He was wheelchair bound and very friendly to talk to.\u00a0 I wanted to stick around and talk to him some more.\u00a0 I guess that is a second reason to go to that theatre&#8230;\u00a0 the other being really cheap.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I played in my second ever Washington State Poker Tour tournament.\u00a0 I played a couple years ago and this time around I planned on doing better.\u00a0 The field was smaller than the last time I played, but I knew many of the people there are good.
